Christie Sides: The New Head Coach of the Indiana Fever

Who is Christie Sides?

Christie Sides is an American basketball coach who was born on January 17, 1977 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is the ninth head coach in the history of the Indiana Fever of the WNBA.

Sides' Coaching Career

Sides has been involved in basketball for over 20 years. She began her coaching career as an assistant coach at Louisiana State University (LSU) in 2000. In 2004, she joined the staff of the New York Liberty of the WNBA, where she spent five seasons.

In 2009, Sides was named the head coach of the Tulsa Shock. She led the Shock to a 12-22 record in her first season, but the team improved to 20-14 the following year. In 2011, the Shock moved to Dallas and became the Wings. Sides continued to coach the team until 2015.

After leaving the Wings, Sides spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Washington Mystics. In 2018, she was named the head coach of the Indiana Fever.

Sides' Coaching Philosophy

Sides is known for her up-tempo, offensive-minded style of play. She believes in pushing the pace and playing with a lot of energy.

"I want my teams to play hard, play together, and play with passion," Sides said. "I want them to have fun and enjoy the game, but I also want them to win."

The Fever are coming off a disappointing season in which they finished with a 12-22 record. Sides is hoping to turn things around and make the Fever a contender in the WNBA.
