Boeing's Starliner Astronaut Mission Set to Launch in 2024
NASA to Send Astronauts on Critical Test Flight
Launch Scheduled for May 6, 2024
Boeing is preparing to launch its first-ever Starliner astronaut mission for NASA as early as May 6, 2024. This critical test flight is designed to demonstrate the spacecraft's readiness for operational missions to the International Space Station (ISS).
NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams will embark on this historic mission, launching aboard Starliner on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket. The spacecraft will spend several days in orbit, performing a series of tests and maneuvers before docking with the ISS.
This launch attempt marks a significant milestone for Boeing, which has faced challenges in developing the Starliner spacecraft. Just days into 2024, a panel on the body of a Boeing 737 Max 9 blew off during a flight in China, raising concerns about the company's manufacturing processes.
